Mobilising others

Individuals who decide to make their contribution towards creating the better world should try to  mobilise those around them that they may be able to influence. These can be as follows:

  1. Your family members. Since the SDGs individually and in sub groups are aimed at creating a better world and in reducing the risks of irreversible damage to Earth, individuals can and should inform their family members about the SDGs. They should also encourage family members  to take action as individuals and also perhaps to work together as a family group to take some additional actions. The same tasks that an individual does can be modified/ expanded as appropriate to be the task for a family. For example, if there are 4 adults in the family group, the weekly quantities can be multiplied by 4. In addition, the family group can, between them, take on other important tasks like sponsoring a girl in the developing world through primary school. Education for even one additional one year, can make a huge impact on that girl's future life  increasing her earning potential by up to  20%. It is particularly important to involve children as it is their future and their world we are seeking to protect. Involving them will make the whole exercise an important family oriented activity and imbue a sense of responsibility, compassion and awareness of the wider world for such young children.
  1. Your group of friends. As with families, friends should be informed about the importance of the SDGs and where possible, encouraged to at least take individual action to create their own Activity Commitment Framework (ACF). In addition, the group of friends could agree to take on a bigger commitment collectively as a group e.g. sponsorship of a girl child through primary school in a developing  country. This would  make a huge impact on her future   and reduce the risk of poverty for her future family.
  1. If you are an Employer. You could inform your staff about the SDGs and encourage them all to  participate as individuals. You could perhaps also organise a company wide "SDG activists" group to take some collective actions such as sponsorship  or  organising a  monthly  collection to give  a regular charity donation each month to relevant charities working in particular  sectors.
  1. If you are an employee. You could inform and educate your fellow workers about the SDGs and encourage them to individually participate. You could also try to persuade your employer to consider organising a collective action such as sponsorship or regular charity donation each month to relevant charities.

As item 1 indicated, an App is under development and we will welcome your comments and inputs as we develop it so that we maximise its usefulness to you. This will enable easy monitoring of impacts achieved and enable easy sharing of your achievements each week on social media. Friends and family will be able to  see your progress and contribution towards saving the Earth and making it a better, fairer world for all.
